I-40 West Bound Closed - Will reopen this evening All lanes of I-40 westbound between Milemarker 48 and 47 in Buncombe County near Asheville are closed due to a multi-vehicle accident. Motorists should take the following detour to get around the incident. Take I-240 at Exit 53 Westbound back to I-40. I-240 is a Loop and will return traffic back to I-40 at MM 46. The incident is expected to clear by late evening on Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Please expect delays in the area and proceed with caution.

Orange Peel to hold benefit for Katrina victims. The Orange Peel in Asheville will hold a belefit, tonight 09-09-2005, for the victims of Katrina. City of Asheville asks citizens to conserve gas. The City of Asheville held a press conference to ask citizens of Asheville and Buncombe County to conserve gas. Gas shortages as expected to last until the middle of next week. Gas prices have already been reported to be as high as $4.00 per gallon for regular unleaded.
